scrollThe hut
On the high plateau of the Puez group, at 2,475 m above sea level, stands the Puez hut, one of the best-known mountain huts in South Tyrol. Surrounded by the Dolomite peaks of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, it has welcomed hikers for 100 years now in the heart of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Dolomites.
The Puez hut can only be reached on foot. Here you find the stillness and calm that daily life so often lacks. Especially in the evening, when the day visitors have returned to the valley, peace settles in. Then you can watch the Sella massif glow red in the evening sun.
The hut lies on Dolomites High Route no. 2 and is an important base for the long-distance trail from Brixen to Feltre.

In the evening, once the day visitors have gone back down to the valley, calm settles in.

History & hosts

Since 2024 Costa Denis and his two daughters have run the Puez hut. They carry on his grandfather’s legacy with love and dedication and gently steer the hut towards a sustainable, environmentally friendly future.
“Today a mountain hut can no longer be seen only as shelter for hikers from alpine dangers. We hut hosts must consciously make protecting nature and the mountain world our goal.”
The hosts want to preserve the mountain world for coming generations and to live and work in harmony with nature.
As a first step a photovoltaic system was installed. The aim is to banish plastic from the hut as far as possible, and for bread, meat and wine the hut relies on local products.
For drinking water, according to its philosophy page, the hut uses spring water from the foot of the Puezkofel, treated with a UV filter system.
